WHAT DRIVES JEWELLERY CASTING COST IN SINGAPORE
There's no single number, because casting cost genuinely depends on the piece — but three things drive it every time: the metal you choose, the size and complexity of the design, and the finishing it needs. Here's what actually moves the price, and how to get a real quote for yours.
The Three Real Cost Drivers
- ► Metal choice — gold is priced against the current market rate for the weight used; sterling silver is a fraction of that cost, which is why it's the standard choice for prototypes and classes, not just finished pieces
- ► Size and complexity — a plain band uses less metal and less labour than a heavily detailed setting with multiple prongs or stones; both material and workmanship time scale with complexity
- ► Finishing — polishing, stone-setting, engraving, and any post-cast detailing add labour on top of the base cast piece
Why Metal Choice Moves The Number Most
Gold is priced by weight against the market rate on the day it's cast, so the same design in 18K gold versus 24K gold versus sterling silver can land at very different prices even though the labour is identical. This is also why we quote per design rather than publishing a flat price list — the same ring can be a very different number depending on what it's cast in.
General Market Reference Points
For context: standalone 3D printing services in Singapore (no casting, no metal) generally run from roughly $20 to $200 per piece depending on size and material — that's before any metal casting is added on top, which is priced separately by weight and market rate. These are general market figures, not a quote for your specific design — the fastest way to get an actual number is to send us what you have.
What A Quote Actually Covers
No design consultation fee if you already have a design — a quote covers reviewing your file or render for structural issues, correcting it in CAD if needed, 3D printing a physical prototype on our Formlabs Form 4, and lost wax casting it in your chosen metal, made in Singapore. You see the printed prototype before anything is cast, so there's no surprise between what you approved and what you get.
